Day 2 of crushing: Landed on Redang Island (off the East Coast of West Malaysia), and strolled along the sandy beach while getting cooled with the crystal clear water - a must-visit island.
-
Returning to our cruise ship - the Genting Dream - a cruise ship with 19 floors and 1861 crew staff, swimming pool, restaurants, cafeteria, karaoke, show rooms, meeting rooms and so much more.
-
Our dinner at the Chinese restaurant on day 2 evening: lots to order, plenty to enjoy, and much to devour without limits. There are other options such as Indian food, international cuisines, and Malay dishes in two other floors. Participants usually gathered together and discuss about cultural practices, academic activities in various schools, and so much more.
-
Some of the participants gathered to have breakfast (yum cha), and discussed activity for the day.
-
Day 3 of cruising: Landed on the most beautiful bay in the world (so the locals claimed), and some participants has local snacks for lunch. Locals only accept currencies such as US dollar and renminbi only. Occasionally, some may accept Singapore dollar and Malaysian ringgit. Just as a reference for living standard: A 30-min leg massage costs US$5-6.

At the disco: it was an hour of songs from The Beatles. Many oldies pooled and danced on-site, refreshing golden memories of their younger days. By the way, beverages and drinks require payment.
-
Day 4 of cruising: Gathered for breakfast and discussed activity for the day - visit to the palace and some heritage sites in Bangkok.
-
In front of the Royal Palace: There is a dress-code for visitors; pants and shorts above the knees are not allowed. Bought emergency flowery Thai pants (200 Baht each) and wore over pants/shots to visit the palace. It was a hot and humid day, not very pleasant with double-pants on; had to bear it out ...

Day 6 of crushing: Had our meeting on way to home-port Singapore. Prof. Matsuda is reporting on his recent findings.
-
Then, there were questions, and Prof. Matsuda keenly attended to the questions without fail. We learnt aplenty from his work.
-
More questions and more answers to satisfy curiosities from all sides.
-
Then, the next speaker - Prof. Hayashi - brightened us on the study programs in his university; many shared his findings, and were vey informative and useful for all.
-
Then, there questions and answers, making his findings clear and sound.
-
Hirohata san followed with some social findings of young Japanese. Findings were refreshing and demanded more caution and sensitivity in the use of SNS messages.
-
All presenting participants assembled after the meeting for a memory snap: all appeared satisfied and happy with the meeting.
-
More new faces in the meeting.

The swimming pool on 16th floor. All are welcome to use the pool when and where appropriate. Can have a 360 degree view of the sea and surrounding when looking from the uppermost deck seen in the background. Poolside dancing and singing are often held in the evening here.
